And now, just in time for the holiday gift season, $10 from each sale of a specially priced “Youth Development Foundation” edition of The American Paint Horse: A Photographic Portrayal will help fund scholarships to young horsemen and –women.

The special edition retails for $40, a 33 percent discount off the regular price and features a special YDF seal imprinted on the first page of each book.

Former Paint Horse Journal editor and award-winning photojournalist Darrell Dodds and renowned photographer David R. Stoecklein spent two years photographing Paints from coast to coast. Jennifer Forsberg Meyer, whose writing appears in many leading equine publications, supplied the text for the book.

The underlying themes of the strength, versatility, athleticism, beauty and intelligence of the colorful American Paint Horse surface frequently throughout the eight-chapter book, and those messages are illustrated in dramatic fashion through brilliant photography.

The handsome large-format book may be purchased from the APHA General Store by visiting the Web site at apha.com/store or by calling the General Store’s toll-free number at (877) 460-6275.

YDF aids in the education of young association members
The Youth Development Foundation was established in 1980 by the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) to help reward and educate young horsemen and -women.

The foundation provides several $1,000 scholarships each year to outstanding APHA youth members. The number of scholarships awarded is determined annually by the amount of money within the YDF fund. Since its beginning, the Foundation has presented 409 scholarships, worth more than $407,000, to assist youth members in realizing their dreams of becoming veterinarians, engineers, agriculturists, educators and more.
