APHA 2008 Official Ambassadors
This year, the American Paint Horse Association chose to recognize
special individuals and groups who are promoting our breed in
extraordinary ways by supporting their efforts and honoring them as
official APHA Ambassadors. The two recipients are trick roper Bryan
Schronk and trick riding group the Kamikaze Kowgirls.
Bryan Schronk
Bryan Schronk, who recently served for five years as a U.S. Navy
damage controlman on aircraft carriers and destroyers in the Gulf
War, today finds himself in a different environment, as he returns to
his trades as a horse trainer and trick roper. He is assisted in his
entertainment act with his American Paint Horse, Hank.
Trick roping is a skill the cowboy never lost, even during long
months at sea. Throughout his time in the Navy, including three
missions in the Persian Gulf, Schronk always kept pictures of Hank in
his wallet and his rope close by.

"It just helped me relax and go back to my roots," said Schronk about
practicing his trick roping skills while serving his country.
The Kamikaze Kowgirls
With high-flying action and flashy Paint Horses, the Kamikaze
Kowgirls trick riding act has entertained countless crowds at
prestigious events such as the Fort Worth Livestock Show and Rodeo.
“Paints are perfect for specialty acts like ours because we need a
versatile athlete with a calm mind that can take the unusual requests
we make of them,” said group founder, Erin Mullis. “And, of
course, they must also have unique eye-appeal that sets them apart.”
