APHA's "Jewel" is a gem for ABC's
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

An American Paint Horse named Clasic Queen, aka "Jewel," found her way into the spotlight recently, after APHA donated her to a deserving family to be featured by ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. APHA was one of hundreds of groups that joined with the ABC Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team and Simmons Homes on the project to build a dream home for Danna White and her five children of Dewey, Okla.

From the moment she arrived on the set, the 13-year-old sorrel and white overo filly was a hit with builders, the ABC team and hundreds of volunteers.

The show is scheduled to air in a 2-hour special on ABC March 12, starting at 6:00 p.m. Centeral Time. Following are photographs from Jewel's journey from Aledo, Texas, to the construction site in Dewey, Okla. For details, apha.com/pressroom/06_extrememakeover.html.

Abigail Jones, an American Junior Paint Horse Association (AjPHA) member from Hudson Oaks, Texas, was Jewel’s last owner. She logged nearly 300 hours in APHA’s Ride America® program with the 13-year-old mare and showed her in several open shows -- both in Western Pleasure and Trail. Abigail and her family sold Jewel to the American Paint Horse Association (APHA). The association then donated the horse to the family of Danna White as part of APHA’s participation in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Photo courtesy Jeff Jones more photos
