FORT WORTH, Texas—Linda Vance of Winlock, Wash., was recently re-elected to serve her second term on the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) executive committee. Her re-election came during the association’s recent Annual Convention and Membership meeting in San Antonio, Texas.

APHA is one of the largest and fastest-growing horse breed organizations in the world, registering new horses at a rate of 40,000 per year. The association currently includes 100,000 members and total registrations of nearly 900,000 horses. Paint Horses are recognized around the world for their colorful coat patterns, athleticism, disposition, and intelligence.

Serving as senior committee member, Vance joined six other longtime APHA members who set APHA policy and are responsible for the association’s fiscal integrity. Vance brings 20 years of service to APHA and a background of vast business ventures to the association. She has worked in both the public and private sectors, and has owned and operated her own business. Her knowledge in human resources; accounting; contract negotiations, arbitrations and legal service; business planning; cost estimating and government-bidding processes will all benefit the organization.

Vance stated that it is important to take a business approach to actions within the association. She also said it is important for the organization to continue to strive to conduct business in the same professional manner as large “for profit” companies.

“We must prepare ourselves and our business for the long haul over the next 15-20 years,” said Vance.

Getting her start with APHA more than 20 years ago when looking for a friendly, competitive show environment for her daughter, Vance and her family have continued to stay active because of the friendly people and quality of horses involved. Although she and her family no longer show, Vance has stayed involved with APHA by participating in the local, regional, zone and national levels of the organization. She has also worked as an announcer at many of the Northwestern Paint Club horse shows.

Vance joins an executive committee that includes President Richard Cox of Knightstown, Ind.; President-Elect Carl Thurow of Wichita, Kan.; Vice President John Corbin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Fifth Committee Member Dr. Travis Titlow of Lincoln, Calif.; Sixth Committee Member Scot Jackson of Stephenville, Texas; and Immediate Past President Carl Parker of Marriott-Slaterville, Utah.
