Colorado woman earns highest honor from
the American Paint Horse Association

FORT WORTH, TEXAS—Jean Fell of Franktown, Colo., was presented with
the American Paint Horse Association’s (APHA) highest member honor, the Distinguished Service Award, at the organization’s annual convention and membership meeting in Louisville, Ky. This award is given to a special APHA member who has helped the association make significant strides through the years. Fell was recognized in 2007 for her more than 30 years of exemplary service to APHA.

The wife the late Dale Fell, an APHA President, Jean Fell has served on the APHA’s Board of directors for 28 years. She has also been influential in the development of the Rocky Mountain Paint Horse Association’s Youth Development Foundation Scholarship Program and was a founding member of the Zone 3 Zone-O-Rama, which has grown to become one of APHA’s largest regional shows.

Fell’s tireless work ethic also led her to a place on the Colorado Horse Development Board, to which she was appointed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture commissioner.

Currently, Fell is involved with the APHA as a board member the American Paint Horse Foundation (APHF), which strives to support youth scholarships, promote equine research and preserve the heritage of the American Paint Horse. She also holds both national and local offices within APHA, including as the Chair of the Rules Standing Committee, which plays a role in the legislation of the organization.
