The Colorado Springs resident will serve next year on the Executive Committee as the association’s president. The governing body, to which Corbin has been elected for five consecutive years, sets APHA policy and is responsible for the association’s activities and fiscal integrity.

Corbin has taken on many leadership positions with APHA throughout the years. In addition to his service on the APHA Executive Committee, he has been involved with the Hi-Plains Paint Horse Club and the Rocky Mountain Paint Horse Association. Both are local affiliates of APHA, which maintains more than 100 regional clubs around the world.

Along with his many duties at the regional club level, Corbin served as president of the Hi-Plains Paint Horse Club and was on the organization’s board of directors. He also served on the board of directors for the Rocky Mountain Paint Horse Association. He presently serves on APHA’s Zone Three Coordinating Committee.

With more than 25 years experience in the horse industry, Corbin is a valued committee member of the National Western Association, which hosts the annual National Western Stock Show in Denver.

During his time on APHA’s Executive Committee, Corbin helped establish a judge improvement program, guided technological advancements for the association and initiated a second APHA World Championship show, which will premier in Fort Worth, Texas, in the fall of 2008.

“Goals for the next year include producing a successful Fall Championship Show for our members—especially those with younger horses—as well as introducing new classes and futurities,” said Corbin.

Other short-term goals include building on existing youth and recreational riding programs.

According to Corbin, long-range goals for the Executive Committee involve building a more exciting experience for Paint Horse exhibitors with two world-class events. In addition, Corbin said the legislative group will work to establish programs for Paint Horse breeders and owners that encourage their efforts to advance the breed and acknowledge their accomplishments. The Executive Committee will also assist APHA’s regional clubs, which are a network of more than 100 local affiliates to the national organization, with programs that promote growth and well-being of the clubs.

Corbin serves on an executive committee that includes President Carl Thurow of Wichita, Kan.; Vice President Linda Vance of Winlock, Wash.; Senior Committee Member Dr. Travis Titlow of Lincoln, Calif.; Fifth Committee Member Scot Jackson of Stephenville, Texas; Sixth Committee Member Gregg Reisinger of Eldora, Iowa; and Immediate Past President Richard Cox of Knightstown, Ind.
