The Executive Committee on which Jackson serves is the APHA governing body that sets policy and is responsible for the association’s activities and fiscal integrity.
“I am interested in growing the amateur program, as I believe it will be the force that drives our association for the next few years,” said Jackson.
Another goal of his is to increase APHA’s presence internationally.
Jackson got his start in the horse industry in 1973 when he began showing horses for his father, Dr. Bill Jackson, who served as APHA President in 1993. Through the years Jackson has gained experience in many phases of the horse industry, including training, showing and breeding American Paint Horses. Along with his horse management duties, Jackson has served six years as president for the Cross Timbers Paint Horse Club in Stephenville, Texas, and as chairman of the Show and Contest Committee for APHA.
Today, Jackson serves on an executive committee that includes President Carl Thurow of Wichita, Kan.; President-Elect John Corbin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Vice President Linda Vance of Winlock, Wash.; Senior Committee Member Dr. Travis Titlow of Lincoln, Calif; Sixth Committee Member Gregg Reisinger of Eldora, Iowa; and Immediate Past President Richard Cox of Knightstown, Ind.
“One goal I have is to bring all the parts of APHA closer together—staff, executive committee and members,” said Jackson. “I want all phases of the association to work together to improve the Paint breed and all that is affiliated with it.”
