| Paint Horse Journal honored by
American Horse Publications
FORT WORTH, Texas—The Paint Horse Journal,
flagship monthly magazine of the American Paint Horse
Association, was recently honored for editorial content,
ad layout and magazine design in the 2009 American Horse
Publications’ (AHP) Annual Awards Contest.
Editors and graphic designers for the Paint Horse Journal
received a total of six awards at the annual AHP meeting, held
in New Orleans, Louisiana, June 25–27, 2009.
The AHP Annual Awards Contest provides members with an
opportunity to be recognized for excellence in equine
publishing, as well as professional critiques for improvement.
Competing against 817 entries from well-known equine
magazines such as the Quarter Horse Journal, Western Horseman,
Chronicle of the Horse and others, the staff again proved to be
at the top of the industry as they earned two first places, one
second place and three honorable mentions in “Circulation under
20,000” divisions. The awards ranged in category from
instructional series to horse care to personality profiles to
advertising and editorial design.
The panel of 24 judges included editors and columnists from
newspapers and agricultural magazines, graphic designers and ad
