Economic impact of the 2000 World Championship Paint Horse Show

FORT WORTH, Texas—When it comes down to dollars and cents, the 2000 World Championship Paint Horse Show gives a sizeable boost to the Fort Worth economy. The following formula, obtained from the International Association of Convention and Visitors Bureau, is used to determine the financial impact of the APHA World Championship Paint Horse Show to Fort Worth, Texas.

Number of horses x 4 people/horse x Number of show days x $230.32/day = Financial impact

The 2000 World Show economic impact is:

1,700 horses* x 4 people/horse x 12 show days x $230.32/day = $18,794,112

It is estimated by the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Burea that each dollar spent "rolls over" or changes hands an average of four times in the Fort Worth area. The 2000 total projected economic impact is: $18,794,112 x 4 = $75,176,448

*Note: This is an estimated number based on the 1999 World Show. For an updated number, please contact Lyndsay Nantz, Communications Specialist, at (817) 834-2742, extension 223, after July 10.
