Spring Roundup Ride
FORT WORTH, TexasThe
American Paint Horse Association is sponsoring
its first APHA Spring Roundup Ride, May 10-14,
2000, at Fort Robinson State Park in Crawford,
Nebraska.
Providing a fun introduction
to cattle work, wranglers will teach ride participants
how to roundup, sort, brand, tag and move 75
head of Longhorn cattle and possibly some buffalo.
Moving the cow and calf pairs to summer pasture
is an integral part of the park's maintenance
program.
"Participants are going to
be doing actual livestock work that needs to
be done," said Jim Lemmon a wrangler at Fort
Robinson. "We are looking for people who have
a horse, want to come and know how to have a
good time."
Cookouts and campfire gatherings
are scheduled after the cattle work is complete.
The Fort Rob Inn serves up a hearty breakfast,
lunch and dinner. Some lunches will be catered
on the trail. The three-day, four-night event
takes place in the heart of northwest Nebraska's
scenic Pine Ridge. Participants lodge in rustic
accommodations without phones, televisions or
radios. Fort Robinson State Park, Nebraska's
largest state park, encompasses more than 22,000
acres and was once an active military post.
Cost for APHA members is $300,
$325 for non-members. The fee must be paid in
full by April 1, 2000. For a registration form
or more information on the Spring Roundup Ride,
