Sale Goes Live
FORT WORTH, Texas-The 2000
World Championship Paint Horse Show World Showcase
Sale will be as close as your computer this
year. Live video will bring you each session
as it happens via the American Paint Horse Association
(APHA) World Show web site at www.aphaworldshow.com.
"We've actually been working
on this technology for a couple of years," said
Irene Stamatelakys, APHA Web Site Director.
"Last year, there were several sales that had
live video feed via web sites, but we knew the
technology was going to get better and wanted
to wait until we could provide the best quality
possible."
Stamatelakys noted that web
site viewers will not only be able to see the
sale, but will also be able to view the sale
catalog on line prior to the sale.
"People interested in watching
the sale need to be aware that there will be
about a 15-second delay from real time action,"
she said.

APHA Assistant Executive Secretary Jim Kelley said that providing
the sale video on the web site helps the market in many ways.
"We've learned that this is a great vehicle
for familiarizing people with the market and educating them
about sales," he said. "Plus, it gives people who can't be
at the sale an opportunity to take a look at the quality horses
available at this sale.
The sale will feature two sessions. First,
will be the Gelding Session to be held July 1 at 12 p.m. More
than 40 quality performance-bred geldings will be featured.
Last year's sale average topped $7,200, with the highest selling
gelding bringing a price of $23,500.
The Mare and Stallion Session, featuring
performance and breeding horses, will be held July 2 at 1
p.m. A total of 17 stallions and 83 mares, many of whom will
be sold in foal and with foal at side, will cross the auction
block. The 1999 Stallion Sale average was $8,117, while mares
averaged $8,383. The highest-selling horse of the sale was
a mare that brought $55,000.
The World Showcase Sale is managed by Milt
Bradford Productions of Weatherford, Texas and is produced
by the American Paint Horse Association. The Showcase Sale
catalog will be available on the APHA web site by June 15.
