re-elected to APHA executive committee
Carl Thurow of Wichita, Kan., was re-elected to the executive committee of the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) at the organization’s 2004 Annual Convention, held recently in Tucson, Ariz.

Carl Thurow of Wichita, Kan., was re-elected to the executive committee of the American Paint Horse Association. The organization now has more than 108,000 members around the world.

Thurow is an equine appraiser and is an active American Paint Horse exhibitor and breeder. He is currently involved in cutting and working cow horse competition.
Thurow has owned several world champion Paint Horses, most notably Ratchetts Parr, who was APHA World Champion Halter Stallion, APHA Reserve World Champion in Western Riding, APHA Reserve World Champion in Working Cow Horse and an APHA “Superior” All-around Champion.
No stranger to leadership positions in APHA, Thurow has served as a national director from Kansas and has held many positions with the Kansas Paint Horse Association. He has been an active member of APHA for 25 years.
During Thurow’s most recent term on the executive committee, APHA set a new membership record, with more than 108,000 people around the world now active in the organization.
Since its formation in 1962, APHA has registered more than 793,000 horses in 48 nations and territories around the world. APHA has been registering new American Paint Horses at a rate of about 50,000 per year, making it one of the most popular and fastest-growing breed registries in the world.
Participation in many APHA activities and programs also continues to grow in popularity, including the World Championship Paint Horse Show, held annually in Fort
Worth, Texas. In 2004, APHA logged more than 4,500 entries in that show, which featured more than 1,800 American Paint Horses over a 14-day period.
Thurow joins an executive committee that includes: Paul Reinbolt of Woodburn, Ky.; Carl Parker of Marriott-Slaterville, Utah; Richard Cox of Knightstown, Ind.; Alice Singleton of Mount Vernon, Ark.; John Corbin of Colordo Springs, Colo.; and Tom Elliott of Benson, Ariz.
