FORT WORTH, TEXAS—After completing a successful term as president of the American Paint Horse Association (APHA), Paul Reinbolt of Woodburn, Ky., became immediate past president at the organization’s Annual Convention, held recently in Atlanta, Ga.

Reinbolt, who has served on the association’s executive committee during the past six years, is part of a team that includes six others who set APHA policy and are responsible for the association’s activities and fiscal integrity.

In addition to his duties at the international level for the organization, Reinbolt has been active with APHA’s regional clubs. In his 31 years of involvement with APHA, he has taken on many roles, including show manager and president of APHA’s Bluegrass Paint Horse Club in Kentucky.

Through his involvement with the association, Reinbolt and his wife, Vicki, have realized a lifelong dream of training and breeding American Paint Horses. Reinbolt manages the business and breeding side of the couple’s operation, while Vicki trains and shows.

During his presidency, Reinbolt saw many of his innovative plans take shape. One of his major goals was to ensure quality and consistent levels of show judging within APHA. Another was to offer added opportunities for all Paint Horses to compete and for people to increase the value of the horses. Reinbolt succeeded in his efforts, with new programs now in place to carry out his mission.

Reinbolt has seen many changes in the Paint Horse industry through the years. Membership climbed dramatically from about 5,000 members in 1974, when he first became involved, to more than 105,000 active members today. In 1974, about 4,700 Paint Horses were registered. Today, that number has grown to more than 847,000 horses in more than 40 nations and territories around the world.

Participation in many APHA activities and programs also continues to grow in popularity, including the World Championship Paint Horse Show, held annually in Fort Worth, Texas. During Reinbolt’s service on the executive committee, more than 1,800 horses have been exhibited each year and entries have continued to increase. In 2005, APHA logged a record 4,848 entries at the show, representing a 7-percent increase over the previous year. There were 1,838 American Paint Horses exhibited during the 14-day show.

New in 2006 will be an exciting show and event, Paint Vegas, which will be held Dec. 6–10 in Las Vegas, Nev. Far more than your typical horse show, Paint Vegas promises five fun-filled days of futurity, jackpot and slot classes in true Las Vegas style.

Reinbolt joins an executive committee that includes President Carl Parker of Marriott-Slaterville, Utah; President-elect Richard Cox of Knightstown, Ind.; Vice President Alice Singleton of Mount Vernon, Ark.; Senior Committee Member Carl Thurow of Wichita, Kan., Fifth Committee Member John Corbin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Sixth Committee Member Linda Vance of Winlock, Wash.
