Second annual American Junior Paint Horse Association (AjPHA) filly fundraiser underway

FORT WORTH, Texas— Floyd and Maryanne Moore of 6J Paint Horses in Huntsville, Texas, are well-known, longtime breeders of quality American Paint Horses. Last year, in support of the American Junior Paint Horse Association (AjPHA), the Moores donated a yearling filly to be given away during a fund-raising event. The fund-raiser was an overwhelming success, and donations for tickets to win the filly helped pay for AjPHA scholarships and activities.

Hoping to generate a repeat performance this year, the Moores have agreed to donate another yearling filly. All proceeds from the drawing will go to support the Youth Leadership Conference, which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, September 29 – October 1. The popular conference teaches young Paint Horse enthusiasts both team-building and leadership skills in a fast-paced, fun environment.

This year’s filly is a palomino tobiano named DGT Holly Bar Delta. She is by Delta Getsya There and out of Rets Holly Bar. Her sire is a World Champion and Reserve World Champion reining sire, as well as the sire of Superior reining award earners. He has also sired cutting, reining, working cow horse, and halter point earners and is a Register of Merit sire in working cow horse.

6J Paint Horses is recognized for its production of talented reining, cutting, roping and working cow horse prospects. DGT Holly Bar Delta is an outstanding product of their program with bloodlines that include such greats as Doc O’Lena AQHA, Delta and Smart Little Lena AQHA.

“The Moores’ generosity and dedication to our Youth program have made a positive impact on so many AjPHA members and the people around them,” said APHA Director of Youth Activities Betsy Francis.

One ticket for the filly drawing will be given for each $10 donation to AjPHA. Donations can be made on-line at ajpha.com, at the 2005 World Show in Fort Worth, or by contacting the director of Youth activities at (817) 834-2742 ext. 248, or youth@ajpha.com.

You need not be present to win, but you do have to enter!

More about AjPHA and American Paint Horses
When young Paint Horse enthusiasts join AjPHA, they receive a membership card, an AjPHA pin, an AjPHA member decal, the quarterly Generation j member newsletter, special Paint Horse Journal subscription rates, preferred rates for registrations and transfers of Paint Horses, free on-line services such as performance and progeny records, and a current rulebook. They are also eligible to participate in APHA programs and may hold office and vote in Youth elections. The greatest membership benefit, however, is the opportunity to participate in activities with a group of similar-minded people who have a passion for American Paint Horses and a desire to get involved with the remarkable breed.

More than 811,000 American Paint Horses have been registered since APHA was formed 43 years ago. The AjPHA was launched later, and now, in its 31st year, boasts almost 7,000 members. Many of APHA’s current leaders were once AjPHA members.

Each year, APHA dedicates a full week of its World Championship Paint Horse Show in Fort Worth every year to Youth competition. Approximately 1,850 American Paint Horses compete at the show annually.
