American Junior Paint Horse Association
recognizes talented youth photographers

FORT WORTH— As part of its annual photography contest, the American Junior Paint Horse Association (AjPHA) recently recognized seven young photographers for their creative depictions of the American Paint Horse. The winners of the AjPHA photo contest were selected from a field of more than 40 entries from throughout the United States and Canada. AjPHA classified the awards in three different categories—9-and-under, ages 10-14 and ages 15-18.

The winner in each category was awarded a digital camera. Second place winners received a copy of Darrell Dodd’s coffee table book—The American Paint Horse, a Photographic Portrayal. A $25 General Store gift certificate went to the third place winner in each category.

“AjPHA has very talented members who continually showcase their artistic gifts in our contest,” said AjPHA Youth Director Betsy Francis. “Hopefully the contest will continue to grow each year, and we will see more participation in all of the AjPHA contests”

9 and Under Age Division winners
• First place -- Jessica Dworkin of Sumterville, Fla.

10–14 Age Division winners
• First place -- Caitlin Taylor of Powell, Tenn.
• Second place -- Amanda Coffelt of Kennesay, Georgia.
• Third place -- Ashley Martin of Norlina, N.C.

15-18 Age Division winners
• First Place -- Kelsey Taylor of Montgomery, Texas
• Second Place -- Sara Sharkey of Esko, N.M.
• Third place -- Shanna McDaniel of Morse Bluff, Neb.

AjPHA is an organization for youth members, ages 18 and under, of the American Paint Horse Association. Through AjPHA, members build friendships, volunteer in their community and develop leadership skills while sharing their enthusiasm for the American Paint Horse through a variety of activities. There are currently more than 7,300 youth members involved in AjPHA.
