Paint Preferred and Gelding Plus awarded $73,500 to outstanding Paint Horse performers at open events, with incentives ranging from $500 to $5,000 for each participant. This money is awarded to the owners of the highest-advancing Paint Horses in open and non-pro competition.

An active Paint Horse owner, competitor and APHA director, Shelly earned $15,000 of the $30,000 Paint Preferred and Gelding Plus incentive awarded at the National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA) Breeders Championship Futurity, held Aug. 25-28, 2005, in Tulsa, Okla.

Shelly, who has been an APHA director for the past six years, earned the money in open and non-pro Western pleasure competition while riding Come Get Ya Some, a 3-year-old red roan overo gelding sired by A Good Zippo and out of TC Lil Zippo.

“It was a nice payday,” Shelly said. “We appreciated the fact that we had an opportunity to run for it.”
