World Championship Paint Horse Show jam-packed with 14 days of entertainment and events

FORT WORTH, Texas—You will find fun equine activities for the whole family, an expanded lineup of classes, a top-notch horse sale and a variety of entertainment at the 2006 World Championship Paint Horse Show, set for June 25-July 8 in Fort Worth, Texas. For 14 straight days, you can discover all things equestrian in the sprawling 85-acre Will Rogers Memorial Center, located in the heart of Fort Worth's cultural district. Admission and parking for all APHA World Show events is free.

Shop at the Colors of the West Gift and Trade Show, watch nearly
2,000 beautiful American Paint Horses compete for world
championships, attend free training seminars, buy an outstanding
Paint at the Showcase Sale and more. There will also be special
activities for children throughout the show.

An annual non-qualifying event for registered American Paint Horses,
the 2006 World Show will include 179 classes, including five
challenge series classes and three sweepstakes events. Exhibitors
from around the globe will demonstrate their skills in halter,
Western, English, cattle, driving and speed classes.

Reining is just one of the nearly 180 classes featured at the 2006 World Championship Paint Horse Show, set for June 25-July 8 in Fort Worth, Texas. Head out to the Will Rogers Equestrian Center for 14 exciting days offering all things equestrian.

Fun for the whole family

APHA plans special entertainment and educational demonstrations for
adults and children of all ages as part of its Colors of the West
Gift and Trade Show. Some of the many activities planned for the
Colors of the West Arena include: horse training and health care
demonstrations; Six Flags Over Texas Wild West Show acts; Cowboy
Mounted Shooting Association demonstrations; product and fashion
shows; musical entertainment; horse rides for kids; plus coloring
contests, parades, horse show tours and more.

Special entertainment—including specialty-riding demonstrations,
patriotic acts and more—is also planned for the John Justin Arena
prior to the start of each 6 p.m. evening performance class.
Two special kids’ days are planned for this year’s World Show. Be
sure to bring the entire family out on June 30 and July 4 for fun-
filled children’s activities, including Paint Horse rides, face
painting, educational activities, and a special visit from Radio
Disney from 10 a.m. to noon on June 30.

International competition offered for youth

APHA, which prides itself on being a family-oriented organization,
dedicates the first week of the show to Youth classes and activities.

This year, the association has invited Youth teams from all nations
to participate in the Youth Paint World Games, which take place on
June 29. Teams will compete in four categories: trail, reining,
showmanship and horsemanship. For 2006, teams representing the United
States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany and Sweden have already
been confirmed.

All speed events set for June 26

Monday, June 26, will be an action-packed day of speed classes that
kick off at 9 a.m. in the Will Rogers Arena.

The following Youth classes will be offered in both 13 & Under and 14–
18 Divisions: barrel racing, pole bending, stake race and goat tying.
Amateur competition will include goat tying, stake racing, pole
bending and barrel racing.

These competitors will appreciate that the quality and depth of the
dirt used for footing in the Will Rogers Arena has been improved this
year.

APHA Barrell Racing
Check out an action-packed day of speed events at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Barrel racing, as well as pole bending, stake race, goat tying are set for Monday, June 26.

Roping classes offered June 27 and 28

The Youth, Open and Amateur roping events are scheduled for Tuesday,
June 27, and Wednesday, June 28, this year in the Will Rogers Arena.

Classes scheduled for June 27 include: preliminaries for Junior and
Senior steer stopping, Junior and Senior heading, Junior and Senior
heeling, as well as Amateur steer stopping, heading and heeling.

The lineup for June 28 includes: Amateur, Junior and Senior tie-down
roping; finals for Junior and Senior steer stopping, heading,
heeling; Youth 18 & Under heading, heeling and steer stopping,
Amateur breakaway roping and Youth breakaway roping.

Catch all cutting classes in the final two days

All of the World Show’s cutting classes are scheduled for Friday,
July 7, and Saturday, July 8.

The following classes are scheduled for July 7: Senior cutting, the 4-
year-old cutting challenge, the 5- and 6-year-old cutting challenge
and Amateur cutting. On July 8, watch Junior cutting, solid Paint-
bred cutting and Youth cutting.

Team Penning Sweepstakes set for July 8

The exciting Team Penning Sweepstakes, which matches a team of three
horse-and-rider pairs against a sometimes obstinate herd of cattle,
begins with a preliminary round during the July 8 afternoon
performance in the John Justin arena. The finals will be held during
that evening’s performance.

New classes offered

Seven new classes were added to this year’s World Show schedule,
three of them open to Solid Paint-Bred/Breeding Stock Registry
horses. APHA has added classes for solid-colored Paint-bred horses to
the lineup to provide more opportunities for these horses to compete
at the World Show. These classes include: solid Paint-bred trail,
barrel racing and cutting.

The other new classes and age-split classes offered cater to Youth
and Amateur competitors. They include: Youth 13 & Under and 14–18
working hunter and cutting, and Amateur 19-44 and 45 & Over trail.

World Showcase Sale offers quality Paint Horses

APHA’s World Showcase Sale is the perfect place to buy an American
Paint Horse. The sale starts at noon on Saturday, July 1, in the W.R.
Watt Arena, located in the Moncrief Building of the Will Rogers
Memorial Center. The sale will offer more than 80 high-quality horses.

Bid on a pair of hand-crafted, collectible Billy Klapper spurs

Also at the sale, APHA will offer a pair of custom spurs, hand-
crafted by renowned bit and spur maker Billy Klapper of Pampa, Texas.
Proceeds from the sale will support the American Paint Horse
Foundation’s (APHF) Youth scholarship program. You can bid on-line
now for a shot at the opening live bid by logging onto
horsecityauctions.com.

Other items will also be offered during the live portion of the sale,
including a bit and spurs designed by Gist Silversmiths, a hand-
sculpted bronze statue created by Clay Gant and a product package
offered by Pro Stepps. All proceeds from the sale of these items will
benefit APHF.

Win a beautiful American Paint Horse

Get your chance to win a registered American Paint yearling filly by
making a $10 donation to support APHA Youth activities and
scholarships. The winner of Brigalenas Nu Flyer will be announced on
July 8, during the evening session.

The sorrel tobiano filly can be seen daily at 1:30 p.m., from Sunday,
June 25, to Thursday, June 29, in the Colors of the West Gift and
Trade Show arena, located in the Amon Carter Exhibit Hall.
