HorseCity.com returns as a sponsor of the 2006 APHA World Show

FORT WORTH, Texas—HorseCity.com has joined forces with APHA on several levels for the 2006 World Championship Paint Horse Show. Once again, APHA and HorseCity.com will use three live Web feeds to broadcast the action from the World Show’s arena floors to the Internet.

More than 10,000 users can access the feed, and last year, more than 8,000 users per day tuned in to the fun. The show can be viewed by logging on to aphaworldshow.com. Viewing requires Real Player software, which is a free download.

HorseCity.com will also co-sponsor an educational seminar to be conducted by Chris Cox, whose Web site is found at chris-cox.com. Cox is one of the nation’s leading horsemen and clinicians. The seminar will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, in the John Justin arena. Just like Cox, HorseCity.com believes teaching is a key to a successful relationship with your horse.

HorseCity.com and APHA have used the power of television to get the word out about Paints. HorseCity.com TV has featured APHA racing champions, as well as a detailed history of APHA, to the 50 million homes potentially served by RFD-TV. If you missed these programs, they can be viewed on-line at horsecity.tv.

“Using the power of the Internet and television really is a great way to promote APHA and our relationship,” said Ryan R. Dohrn, general manager of HorseCity.com. “I truly feel, as an APHA member, that this is a wonderful relationship that grows bigger each year.”

HorseCity.com’s annual horse giveaway contest draws approximately 700,000 entries each month. Again this year, the featured horse is a registered American Paint Horse, to be trained by Van Hargis, whose Web site can be accessed at vanhargis.com. This year’s prize Paint Horse, a 2004 bay tobiano gelding, will tour with Van around the nation, bringing recognition to both APHA and HorseCity.com for this revolutionary idea.

Chicos Main Feature is out of The Last Feature and by SummersChicoBandito, which has won numerous titles including the APHA World Show 2005 World Champion Sr. Steer Stopping title and is a multiple Top 10 winner for 2004 in Heading, Heeling and Calf Roping. The gelding’s main bloodline may be centered on cattle but Hargis will make sure he will be ready for any discipline the winner chooses.

Hargis will show his training progress with the gelding through groundwork, riding and flying lead changes on HorseCity.com TV throughout the year.
“Given that we have a diverse and multi-disciplinary cross-section of users, Van will provide a training program that produces a well-mannered, nicely started horse that will then be able to transition into any discipline,” said Ann Waters, marketing director for HorseCity.com.

To enter HorseCity.com’s contest, visit horsecity.com/club. Follow the progress of “Feature" at HorseCity.com with photos of Feature on his own gallery as well as a blog that Hargis will be keeping throughout his training of the Paint Horse.
